The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Heat Advisory for the San Bernardino County Mountains, including Big Bear Valley, running through 8:00 PM PDT on Saturday, August 8.
Temperatures below 6,500 feet are expected to climb into the mid-80s to upper-90s during the advisory period, a range that NWS warns is high enough to cause heat-related illness. Big Bear Lake sits at roughly 6,750 feet, but surrounding lower-elevation areas — and visitors spending time outdoors at any elevation — face elevated risk.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on elderly neighbors and those without air conditioning. A local public health or emergency services advisory specific to Big Bear Valley could not be confirmed at time of publication.
The advisory remains in effect until Saturday evening, August 8. For the latest conditions and updates, monitor the National Weather Service at weather.gov.
