Bear Valley Meals on Wheels needs volunteer drivers this winter

The all-volunteer organization delivers hot meals to 30–40 homebound residents five days a week — and the commitment is less than two hours.

Bear Valley Meals on Wheels, Inc. is calling on Big Bear Valley residents to help keep one of the mountain community's most vulnerable populations fed this winter — and the time commitment may be smaller than you think.

The nonprofit delivers in-home meals to roughly 30–40 homebound residents who are unable to get out on their own, running Monday through Friday, including holidays. Every single position in the organization is filled by a volunteer, and all donations go directly toward the cost of the meals themselves — none is spent on overhead.

Right now, the group is especially looking for delivery drivers to help through the winter months, when mountain roads and cold weather make getting around harder for both recipients and current volunteers. The ask is modest: most drivers spend fewer than two hours per week on deliveries, and volunteers can choose how frequently they want to pitch in.

If you can spare a morning here and there to make a real difference for a neighbor who depends on it, this is one of the more direct ways to do it.
