Big Bear Mountain Resort's 'Best Whip' competition returns Oct. 3 with cash prizes and no entry fee

Big Bear Mountain Resort will host the finale of its 2026 Summit Series on Saturday, October 3, with a "Best Whip" mountain bike competition running from 10AM to 4PM. The event celebrates style and amplitude — rewarding riders who can get their bikes the most sideways off a jump.
One of the more accessible aspects of the competition is that there's no pre-registration required and no entry fee to ride. Riders of all ages can simply show up and sign up onsite for a shot at cash prizes on the day.
For spectators, the resort promises live entertainment and a lively atmosphere throughout the six-hour window. Admission to the viewing area requires either a Season Pass or a day-use bike park or Scenic Sky Chair lift ticket.
The Best Whip contest is the finale of the two-part 2026 Summit Series; the first installment was a Long Jump competition held on June 27.
